Effect of detonator position on rock fragmentation: Full-scale field tests at Kevitsa open pit mine

چکیده
The effect of detonator position on rock fragmentation was studied at the Kevitsa open pit mine. Five full-scale field tests were conducted where blasts divided into test and reference areas, compared with each other. In detonators placed or near middle point explosive column, in corresponding to conventional used mine, about 1–2 m above bottom blast holes. fragment sizes from both areas measured using shovel-mounted machine vision cameras image analysis. Both theoretical studies indicated that plays an important role fragmentation, column yielded significant improvement fragmentation. For example, percentages x20, x50, x80 are reduced by 10–27%, 11–30%, 8–31%, respectively; percentage large size fragments (>1.0 m) is 29–99%; small (<2.5 cm) increased 6–49%. • Detonator location for bench blasting. best charge length. significantly improved Fragment x50 11–24% tests.

Rock fragmentation is one of the desired results of rock blasting. So, controlling and predicting it, has direct effects on operational costs of mining. There are different ways that could be used to predict the size distribution of fragmented rocks. Mathematical relations have been widely used in these predictions. From among three proposed mathematical relations, one was selected in this stud...
متن کاملAnalyzing the effect of ore grade uncertainty in open pit mine planning; A case study of Rezvan iron mine, Iran
Due to uncertain nature of grade in ore deposits, considering uncertainty is inevitable in geological modelling of resources and mine planning. In other words, uncertainty in grade of mineralized materials, is one of the most significant parameters need attention in mine planning. In this paper, a comparative procedure utilizing Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) and traditional Ordinary Krig...
متن کاملA genetic algorithm approach for open-pit mine production scheduling
In an Open-Pit Production Scheduling (OPPS) problem, the goal is to determine the mining sequence of an orebody as a block model. In this article, linear programing formulation is used to aim this goal. OPPS problem is known as an NP-hard problem, so an exact mathematical model cannot be applied to solve in the real state. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a well-known member of evolutionary algorithms...
متن کاملAnalysis of Large-scale Displacement Using Radar Interferometry Technology in Open-pit Mines (Case Study: Gol Gohar Sirjan Mine)
Abstract Mines with their displacements cause damage to infrastructure and land, so it is important to control the displacement caused by mines. Also, the amount of minerals extracted from mines has always been of interest to managers. On the other hand, radar interferometry, given the production of repetitive and full images and the acceptable accuracy of this method, in examining be sugge...
